DEMOLITIONS

The Demo Unit works closely with code enforcement officials, the Buffalo Erie Niagara Land Improvement Corporation (BENLIC), the City of Buffalo Fire Department and Housing Court Officials to identify properties that are in need of demolition. Monitors the expenditure of funds for all demolitions. Also, identifies properties for environmental clearance of demolitions funded with Federal and State grants and City funds. Coordinates with City Housing Court to demolish properties ordered by the judge. Ensures all demolitions and asbestos removals meet all local, State and Federal guidelines. 

Notable Accomplishment

Over 50 demolition completed from September 2018 to October 1, 2019, mostly on the City’s eastside neighborhoods.
